Community Markets are held on the first Saturday of the month from 8.30am to around noon in Hickory Street.
We have an eclectic mixture of stallholders from the local area and region. Commonly we have hot food, fresh fruit and veges, leatherwork, bric-a-brac, books, seedlings, new kids clothes, homemade cakes, jams and chutneys.
We welcome locals and visitors to enjoy some fair dinkum country hospitality.
The Community Markets are run by the Dorrigo Showground and Public Recreation Trust as a service to the community of Dorrigo.
Market co-ordinator Dina said “it is all about building co-operation and collaboration between businesses and stallholders to everyone’s benefit – a rising tide lifts all boats! Activity in the street is paramount, it is essential that we show Dorrigo to be a vibrant interesting village that is willing to ‘have a go’ and having the stallholders ‘filling’ the street with colour and activity attracts and entices visitors, locals and the passing traffic to stop and ‘check us out’”. “Showing the locals that they don’t have to travel elsewhere for ‘stuff’ and that they can ‘shop local’ to support their local businesses, community organisations and community is paramount” one stallholder said. “It’s working” said another. Thanks are also due to the local press, local free-to-air TV and radio and to the administrators of social media platforms, various websites and in particular destinationdorrigo.com for their continuing support of our community.
